This new venture has found an instant popularity with locals, and as a stop-off for those touring on SH 2. Great coffee, a wide-ranging menu of modern, tasty food and a sunny, north-facing location.

Lake Ferry Hotel Bar & Café

A rustic pub on the edge of the sea (the most southerly hotel in the North Island) with a bar in original condition. Full of fun, warmth and locals lingering over a few ales, the café serves famous fish and chips or selections from a contemporary menu. Crayfish and paua are also offered, subject to availability.

La Mousse

This traditional restaurant has moved to a spruced-up building on The Square and installed a wine bar with tapas. The French-style menu remains, offering such dishes as escargots, châteaubriand, venison and other specialties, with fine service.

Pipi Café

A funky and original café that's popular with locals. Open from 7am for coffee and breakfast, with an all-day menu. Pizzas are a feature of the dinner menu, and there's a small supplementary list of daily specials, including soup, pasta and puddings to eat in or take away.

Saluté! offers a contemporary Mediter-ranean lunch and dinner menu in a modern, open restaurant in the centre of Greytown. Excellent food, ambience and service as well as a good selection of local wines to match the meals.

The Bistrot in the hotel has been revamped for diners to enjoy fine wines and a small, careful menu. The exceptional wine list remains and a small ‘malt bar’ for late night provides a relaxing setting for house guests. For more casual eating, there’s also a basic blackboard menu in the Settlers Bar on the corner of the property.
