Cuisine magazine was judged best food magazine in the world when it won gold at the Gourmet Media World Festival held in Cannes, France.
The festival, which bills itself as the international rendezvous of all media professionals dedicated to food and drink, awarded Cuisine Best Food Magazine with one of only four golds given. No other magazine received a gold Gourmet Voice trophy.
The awards are open to food media from all over the world and are part of the festival attending by many of the leading lights of the food and wine world. This year Tetsuya Wakuda of Tetsuya’s in Sydney and the UK wine writer, Hugh Johnson, were personally honoured.
The jury’s voting is based on three main criteria: creativity of content, originality of approach and efficiency of presentation.
Cuisine editor Simon Wilson said, “It is an immense honour to be judged best food magazine in an international competition and gives credence to our belief that this country has some of the best food writers – and food – in the world.”
Already New Zealand’s most decorated food magazine, Cuisine won silver at these awards in 2004 and is currently the Qantas Awards News-Stand Magazine of the Year and the MPA Home and Food Magazine of the Year.
