More Simple Cafe Food
Julie le Clerc

Penguin $29.95 p/b

Julie Le Clerc's title sums this book up perfectly - More Simple Café Food, building on from her first book which was a finalist in this year's Montana book awards.

Within months of her first book being published, Julie had written this sequel. She has also recently finished a third, although it is not café based as she wrote that one after selling her ever-popular Garnet Road Café in Auckland's Westmere.

The theme is cakes. However, the content of the fourth book she is currently writing is still under wraps but it will be different again. But as Julie says "it will still in my style and will appeal to café people''.

Julie's recipes are practical and innovative. Most of the ingredients she uses are readily available in supermarkets, but a few that will require a trip to a specialist food stores. They are easy to follow too, as she covers the range from 'small food' through to preserves and sweets. And Julie's preserves remain famous.

They're a good team: Shaun Cato-Symonds' photography and Julie Le Clerc's food. So expect books number three and four to be as good as this.
