There are no prizes for guessing what mates call electrician Peter Jackson, who planted a vineyard in Martinborough in 1989 and named it after the lane in Liverpool where his family used to live. That’s right – they call him ‘Lord of The Vines’. Peter co-owns Linacre along with Jocelyn Wellington and Carl and Kathy Jackson.
Peter initially sold all the Pinot Noir from his four-hectare vineyard to next-door neighbour Dry River until he decided in 2000 to make his own wine at Benfield & Delamare. Two subsequent vintages have been made under contract but by 2004 Peter plans to have his winery completed and again make the wine himself.
