This celebrates the unsung heroes of Indian cookery – the home cooks. Roopa travelled the breadth of India, invited into homes to meet the maker behind the dish. Each recipe is accompanied by an introduction to the cook, be it the family behind a feast in Delhi, or the person who makes jars and jars of pickles in Gujarat. As Roopa says, “It’s not just a recipe on a page. It is somebody’s identity, someone’s culture. It’s a statement of belonging.”

Felicity O’Driscoll of Cook the Books brings us her pick of the new releases.
