This fun taverna in the centre of Whangarei township has a distinctly Greek feel. Really popular with locals it’s a buzzy almost casual space where everyone can feel comfortable and dine well. There’s an interesting menu of Greek/Mediterranean inspired dishes that are offered at different times of the day. Lighter style lunches are served Thursday to Saturdays and there’s a much more comprehensive menu at dinner Tuesday to Saturday. Snacks are available in between for those who just want to pop in for a drink and pita and dips, or the much-loved bifteki and cheeseburger with the must-have Greek fries. Popular dinner dishes include prawn souvlaki, the very good Greek mezze plate(including tzatziki), a delicious beetroot salad and souvlaki of shawarma spiced chicken or lamb kofta with Greek yogurt & mint oil, both with generous servings of green salad, Greek fries, tzatziki, pickle, and grilled pita, to truly capture the Mediterranean mood.
