Nourish is such a great title – it speaks to the role food has in our lives, how it is fuel for our bodies, yes, of course, but also how food can warm the soul, heal hurts and help us show love and care for each other. And, as Chelsea Winter explains in her intro, she wants this book to encapsulate all that, while also being a practical guide for the foodie challenges of everyday family life, including picky eaters, food intolerances, limited time and/or money. Her intention is for a book full of recipes that help us all thrive. It’s an ambitious prospect but one that Nourish meets by creating recipes using ingredients that were intentionally chosen to align with wellbeing. And, in a departure from Chelsea’s recent books, this time that means using meat, dairy, eggs and fish again. Those with dietary requirements are well catered for with an impressive amount of gluten- and dairy-free recipes. Chelsea provides lists of the foods she ‘celebrates’ and the foods she is ‘mindful of’, and personally, I’m not sure about the wisdom of taking advice on specific ingredients and/or food groups from someone who isn’t qualified as a dietitian or similar, but in fairness the list is qualified by her saying that she herself is on learning journey and that some of these ingredients have appeared in her previous cookbooks. So, readers can take it or leave it. Ditto re the chapter on food-based home remedies.  SÍANA CLIFFORD
