The holy trinity of spirit, citrus and sweetener can be spun a thousand ways – a Daiquiri is just one example. Given that they’re such simple drinks, the balance really matters here. There are two ratios I usually use: 2-parts spirit to 1-part citrus and ½-part sweetener gives a zingy and bracing drink, whereas 2-parts spirit to ¾-parts each citrus and sweetener softens it a little. Here I want the syrup at the forefront, and the tartness from the pomegranate in the grenadine balances it out.
