Ingredients

BEEF SATAY
500g beef steak, such as sirloin, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons kecap manis
ONION, TURMERIC & HERB SALAD
2 red onions, sliced
1 tablespoon fresh turmeric, grated
1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
½ teaspoon sugar
½ cup soft herbs, such as coriander, Thai basil, mint, chives, roughly chopped

Instructions

1.BEEF SATAY
2.Mix the beef and kecap manis in a bowl or plastic bag to coat well.
3.Marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to a day in the fridge.
4.Thread onto 12 well-soaked skewers.
5.Heat a barbecue or grill to very hot and cook for a minute each side or until cooked to your liking.
6.Serve with peanut sauce and the onion, turmeric and herb salad.
7.ONION, TURMERIC & HERB SALAD
8.Soak the onions in water for 10 minutes then drain well.
9.Toss with the turmeric, vinegar, sugar and a little salt.
10.Before serving, toss with the herbs.
