All plates are thoughtfully paired with The Runholder’s Te Kairanga and Martinborough wine and Lighthouse gin, and all pay homage to local farming heritage and the land that surrounds it. Offering elevated vineyard dining, with sweeping views and a warm, inviting dining room this feels cosy in winter, yet light and airy in hot weather. Overseen by Erin Lawton-McKenzie, the service is faultless, while head chef Raquel (Rocky) Regis delivers rustic yet refined dishes. Standouts include succulent Wairarapa lamb ribs with harissa, pearl barley tabbouleh and sheep’s milk labneh. Desserts are polished and thoughtful, with the Greytown honey cake and burnt honeycomb a highlight. This is a destination well worth planning a visit to.
