Chef-owner Sam Lee (formerly of Ebisu and Amano) has opened IZU, a new venture bringing refined Japanese food with a Euro flair to the south Auckland suburb of Papakura.

Ponsonby’s AUGUSTUS BISTRO is set to reopen in October. New owners Robyn and Nick Jones, of Waiheke’s Mudbrick Vineyard and The Archive Bar & Bistro, are bringing in chef Logan Coath to infuse a European-Italian focus with an upmarket but relaxed ambience.

Wellington’s signature restaurant HIPPOPOTAMUS farewells Laurent Loudeac after almost 11 years as executive chef. Taking over the reins is Jiwon Do, a former senior sous chef at the restaurant.
