A destination worth visiting. Thirty years ago it was a bold move to plant Camellia Sinensis the traditional tea bushes deep in the heart of the Waikato. Over the years the city of Hamilton may have crept out into the rolling countryside but now this successful Tea Estate has become one of the most beautiful properties in the region. Drive through the gates and surprise after surprise meets the eyes. Manicured gardens, endless rows of tea bushes extend in every direction, there’s sculptural art throughout, and in the midst of this, an elegant Tea Room with a traditional and modern art collection overlooks a small lake. The Signature High Tea (bookings necessary) offers savouries and small cakes designed and made by French pâtissiers accompanied by a selection of high-quality Zealong teas, grown, processed and exported around the world. A light lunch menu is also offered.Â
There’s als a function centre and sales area where you can taste these premium teas that are now exported to sophisticated markets around the world.
