Upflavoured spins on the Christmas classics will steal the show on the big day, in this extract from Christmas Feasts &Treats by Donna Hay.

Christmas at my house usually consists of my three favourite things – family, laughter and, let’s be honest, a little craziness. My boys wake up super-early (of course!) so, after a few presents, it’s become a ritual of ours to dash down for a swim in the ocean. Refreshed and salty, we head home to get ready for lunch, and it’s not long before I’m prepping canapés in the kitchen with my sisters and a glass of Champagne. It’s these kinds of moments I think we all treasure on Christmas Day. Don’t get me wrong, I have quite the weakness for festive food and all its trimmings, but I’m also really into finding new ways to dial down the entertaining stress and make more room for fun. This book has all my fuss-free tips, styling tricks and, most importantly, stunning but simple recipes you can count on for the big day. It’s my way of wishing you a very happy (and relaxed!) Christmas. DONNA HAY
