I’ve followed the Sydney sisterhood of the Monday Morning Cooking Club since their first book back in 2011. I love them because they cook straight from the heart while sharing stories of a deep connection through food and the memory of generations that have gone before. This, their fourth book, is no different other than a lot more sugar is involved. Their constant tweaking, testing and preserving of the multitude of sweet recipes entrusted to them over their many years of collecting, from Jewish homes across Australia and around the world, delivers a cookbook that has a little something for every home cook. I also love that this book includes a non-standard cheesecake chapter called ‘Sweet Cheese’. Here you will find traditional cheese blintzes, cherry-and-cheese strudel, cheese-and-raisin pastries, a unique apricot-studded kolac slice and the people’s favourite… the South African Cheesecake. KELLI BRETT
