Marble countertops and huge swags of dried flowers bring luxe in spades to this stripped-down warehouse space. Big, busy and opulent, Amano pumps it out all day offering simple-looking and stylish Italian-themed dishes. The chargrilled chicken with witloof, garlic and lemon is full-flavoured and beautifully cooked with moist breast meat and good charred flavour, the confit garlic adding richness and rounding out the flavour of the bitter leaves and the  simple stock sauce. To finish, a crisp plum cannoli with rich mascarpone and an oozy tart filling in a crunchy shell. There’s a good mix of Italian and NZ wines, especially by the glass and a sizeable Italian aperitif selection, all delivered with briskly efficient service. Where possible, the menu lists the provenance of the main ingredients.
