We couldn’t wait to share this new venture with you after a recent visit. Tragically a fire destroyed the restaurant, putting it out of action for a while. We had wanted to tell you how Lucas Parkinson (pictured with partner Larissa McDonough) aims to source organic, ethical, sustainable, seasonal ingredients and support locals who are doing good things. We’d planned to tell you about the hearty dishes packed with veges, prepared with a deft hand and perfectly balanced flavours. We were excited about food that is not fancy but innovative, food that begins with an ingredient available at its prime and celebrated on the plate. We’re still dreaming about Lucas’ divine pumpkin soup. Plans are to rebuild and re-open the restaurant as soon as possible. We’re sure that the new Ode Conscious Dining will be one to watch and who needs an excuse to visit gorgeous Wanaka.
