There were spectacular results in the Cuisine tasting of Bordeaux-style wines, with a Western Australian winner, Ringbolt Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon 2018, which had the judges praising its “wonderful layered complexity”. Hawke’s Bay made an almost clean sweep of the syrah honours, with the Villa Maria Reserve Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2018 coming out tops, while the “dangerously drinkable” Don’t Tell Gary Shiraz 2018 from Victoria was the winner in the shiraz tasting.
