You may remember Margot in her previous incarnation as Bar Mason. Big shoes to fill. Well, apart from improved lighting, new artworks and hanging macramé pot plants, the place remains substantially unchanged. We take great comfort in that. Husband-and-wife team Tom Adam (he’s the chef) and Juno Miers (she’s front-of-house) are at the helm now with rustic, European-inspired shared plates at the centre of a regularly changing menu – one that focuses heavily on local produce with the very best coaxed out of every carefully chosen item. Vegetables play a leading role, but meat-eaters fear not: equally rewarding is Tom’s own take on a steak tartare – chopped raw beef with caramelised onion and parmesan. Margot also does electrifying cocktails and a funky wine list. It remains a super-friendly, easy-going suburban spot well worth venturing out of the central city for.

IN BRIEF: Top little local with Euro style
