Good things emerge from Social Kitchen’s mibrasa charcoal oven: think Brazilian skirt steak, Spanish sausage, 12-hour spiced goat and smoked lamb ribs. Whole baked snapper is very fresh, line-caught locally and stuffed with spanking-fresh green herbs and lemon, simply and beautifully cooked. Arancini-like calamari balls are packed with calamari laced with a little chilli, both texture and flavours spot on. The wine list is out of the ordinary, with enough in there to interest wine buffs, while ensuring all bases are covered. Cocktails span trad cocktails and creative house specials. The eclectic decor of stark concrete walls offset by chandeliers, taxidermied heads and antlers, contribute to a space that’s original, energetic and hip. On Sundays there’s a fixed price family-style meal, so relax and enjoy.
