Under the new guardianship of Adam and Nicola Newell this iconic restaurant and pub has had a spruce up, with beautiful private dining rooms sporting lush dark wallpaper and open fires in the pub taking things up a notch. Being in Martinborough you’d expect the wine list to be filled with fantastic wines from this region and it delivers, with two whole pages of the list dedicated to Martinborough wines by the glass, Martinborough whites flights and Martinborough pinot noir flights. Food is of the posh pub variety with classic French aspects done very well, such as a pate de champagne with chicken liver parfait topped with pinot noir jelly, a warming, rich and unctuous cassoulet and a vanilla crème brulée to finish with just the right amount of crunch.
