Tucked in among the vines of the Onetangi Valley, this rustic shed is an integral part of a working vineyard, lending a genuine feel of authenticity and of being there where it all happens. As you’d expect, staff have a real understanding of the Te Motu wines and offer excellent recommendations to accompany each course with authority and style. Michael Greig is taking over as the new head chef, though sadly he did not arrive in time for us to be able to assess the restaurant for this year’s awards. There are exciting plans afoot, including the aim of using the fertile vineyard valley to grow much of their own produce alongside the vines. We have every reason to hope that this vineyard star will continue to wow diners and offer good food and a wonderful ambience to accompany the great wines on offer. In our book, you couldn’t wish for more than that.
